ERP systems (Great Plains)

Hi Platinum
When job hunting I recently came across a word ERP in an ad, but I don't know what it is. In the ad, it mentioned softwares like Hyperion and Great Plains. I didn't use them before, that's why I'm wondering what is ERP.
Cheers
Chris

  1. Hi Chris,

ERP stands for ‘Enterprise Resource Planning’. It is the system used by large organisations. It has all different functions that allows all different departments to work together in one system. SAP & Oracle are both ERP system examples. It is role-based access system. Accounting department is only part of the users and only can access to its ‘Finance’ function.

Accounting software, on the other hand, is only used by accounting department, such as MYOB, Quickbook etc.

Our level 2 program will go through SAP ERP system.

If the job description requires such skill as essential, your application might be declined if you don’t have experience with ERP system. If the job description only mentions such skills as ‘preferred’, you can still go ahead and give it a go.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

    Florian
